The Attar Burial Shroud

Attar: a perfume or essential oil extracted from the petals of flowers, especially roses

The Attar Burial Ensemble is an elegant, natural burial garment. I designed the garment based on over 20 years of experience in assisting with burials. The design allows for ease in slipping it onto the body.

Once wrapped there is access to viewing the face while keeping the rest of the body wrapped. The ties and stitching hold the garment in place and secure modesty, dignity and elegance throughout the burial process.

Only the finest fabrics are used in making the ensemble. Twelve yards of fabric including a fine Habotai silk, also known as "China silk" graces the outer layer and a Kona Cotton which is exceptionally soft while being durable lines the ensemble for a modest undergarment effect.

Both the fabrics used are free of dyes and are 100% natural fiber. The design allows for a wide range of heights and weights to be securely wrapped.

The Attar Burial Ensemble for Baha'is includes the carefully sewn silk garment Attar Burial Shroud described above as well as a Vial of Attar of Roses, and the Baha'i Burial Ring bearing the inscription, “I came from God, and return unto Him, detached from all save Him, holding fast to His Name, the Merciful, the Compassionate.”

The Ensemble is wrapped in a heavy acid-free sleeve for its protection.
